Bridport’s deliciously historic bakery is a West Dorset icon. Their award-winning breads, savouries, cakes, scones and pastries are hand-made from scratch and baked on the premises in brick-floored ovens. They bake using the time-honoured practice of taking time and the simple ingredients of flour, water, levain for sourdoughs and yeast for everyday loaves. Their bread is free of added fats, improvers and sugar. Most are vegan friendly (loaves with cheese, brioche and teacakes are the exception) and their products are recognised by the excellent Great Taste Awards.
Caroline, Jemima, Claire and the team choose seasonal, local, organic ingredients whenever possible; cheese and squash tarts appear in the autumn months, whilst hearty pasties with their own fillings add warmth to the winter. At Christmas, macaroon topped mince pies and stollen loaves add festive flavour. In the Spring and Summer months hand-made savouries burst with just-picked veg from nearby growers and cakes come alive with locally grown strawberries and fresh cream. For deliveries, you can choose from a wide selection of Speciality, Spelt, Rye and Sourdough loaves to create a box to enjoy and to share. Your selection will be baked to order, cooled and then delivered via next-day courier to ensure you experience a truly fresh taste of Dorset.
