Fruits of the Earth is Bridport's Wholefoods shop and is run by Mike and Sue English. They provide a wide range of unprocessed food and organic produce, much of which is grown and supplied locally. They use an ethical co-operative wholesaler and keep their prices low by selling a lot of loose and bulk food i.e. oats, muesli, pulses, lentils, whole grains, rice, dried fruit and nuts, seeds, teas, coffees, herbs and spices. They stock a range of gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free products as well as vitamin supplements and herbal remedies. They also aim to be eco-friendly, so stock cleaning products that are kind to the environment and they refill washing up liquid, laundry liquid, fabric conditioner and multi-surface cleaner. They offer a fantastic range of organic and biodynamic alcohol.
Shopping at Fruits of The Earth is as much about the experience as the fantastic products. Mike and Sue have been running the business since 1986 and they still have an infectious passion for what they sell. They have a great ability to forge connections with people and their many regulars enjoy visiting the shop not only to buy, but also chatting to them and the unhurried and authentic shopping experience that Fruits of The Earth delivers. The shop itself is a combination of apothecary with a good selection of herbal remedies and supplement and an aladdin’s cave of store cupboard essentials, fresh produce and other treats. They stock a great range of diverse and interesting ingredients including Spanish products. For curry enthusiasts, their range of fresh and loose spices are especially good!
