Giving Back

Jurassic Feast is a community effort so as part of our ethos of supporting each other, we have partnered with three great food-based charities who we regularly donate to from the proceeds of your subscription fees. Two of our charity partners are local to the area and one is a national charity, and they all do fantastic work to support, educate and enable people to eat healthily and locally with all of the incumbent benefits that this brings.

The Seaside Store Lyme Regis

The “Seaside Store”, is run by Coastal Community Cupboard, the health and well-being branch of Lyme Regis Development Trust. It is based on the Social Supermarket idea which is rapidly becoming a popular model across the country and provides an alternative to traditional food banks whilst addressing the whole issue of food insecurity. It ultimately enables people to access healthy and affordable food and is a food store with two major benefits. Firstly, it removes the stigma attached to services such as the emergency food supplied by traditional food banks, and also utilises supermarket food surpluses which would otherwise end up as waste so has an environmental benefit too.

Project Food works with a wide range of people, from school children and families to older people affected by diet related conditions and isolation and anyone in between.

FareShare

Jurassic Feast are supporting FareShare via Work for Good. FareShare is the UK’s longest running food redistribution charity and were born out of the belief that no good food should go to waste, especially when people are going hungry. They take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to over 11,000 frontline charities and community groups. This is enough food to make over a million meals a week.
